Vitality Fitness offers the most "private" group barre and yoga classes in the area.  Offering the best in barre classes since 2002, Vitality is a small, inviting, and very private boutique exercise studio located in downtown Ridgewood, just a few minutes from HoHoKus, Saddle River, Glen Rock, Midland Park, Wyckoff, and Franklin Lakes. Our clients find the atmosphere to be highly professional and free of the intimidation and sub-par instruction that often accompanies memberships at larger health clubs, franchise studios and imitation pop-up barre studios. Barre exercise and Yoga classes are the challenging, total-body workouts offered at Vitality. Nutrition counseling by a Registered Dietitian is available by appointment. The human body is fascinating. Understanding the way it works in relationship to metabolism, fat, muscle, and weight management is the key to successfully changing your body.  Understanding the patterns of our behavior, the way we react to stress and our response to the tricks our mind plays on our emotions is the rest of it.  At Vitality we have a passion for helping others understand how to use what they have in their power, that being good nutrition, exercise and stress management, to achieve wellness goals to be healthier, more fit, and feel beautifully strong and confident in our bodies.

Tara Clarke

Tara Clarke has been an avid sports enthusiast since childhood, participating in all sports ranging from ballet, to golf and horseback riding. She ran varsity cross country and track all four years of high school and helped her team win the State Championships her senior year. Since then, she has participated in numerous road races and successfully completed the NYC Marathon in 2009. Growing up, Tara practiced a variety of dance but developed a true passion for ballet. When her mother, Annette O'Neill, introduced her to the Lotte Berk Method as a teenager, she realized it was the perfect way to combine dance and exercise. It was not until she gave birth to her daughter that she decided to leave her career in finance for fitness, doing what she loves while simultaneously being able to spend more time at home. Tara is a Certified Personal Trainer, Vitality Barre trained, and is certified through Exhale's Barre Teacher Training in NYC. She is excited to share her enthusiasm of the barre exercise with others.

Karin Stephan.jpg

Karin Stephan

Growing up, Karin was the definition of a ‘tomboy’. She tried almost every sport under the sun, but in high school she found a love for the game of field hockey. She was recruited by the University of Maryland, where she won a national championship as a Terp. After graduating from UMD she stayed active and in shape with a diverse workout routine, consisting of pilates, yoga, kickboxing, boot camp, core, and spin classes. Though she is a tomboy at heart, she developed a passion (maybe better described as an obsession) for fashion. Soon stilettos, makeup, and designer labels replaced her sneakers, eye black, and lululemon. Her career followed in that same direction. She became and account coordinator/makeup artist for Trish McEvoy. In 2008 she moved to Ridgewood with her family. While her two children were in school, Karin was looking for a new workout to keep her in her ‘skinny jeans’. A friend brought her to her first barre class at Vitality Fitness. For Karin, it was pretty much love at her first ‘Small V’. She found the classes challenging, yet rewarding (both psychically and mentally) which was a perfect fit for her competitive nature. She was able to completely transform her body- toning and lengthening her muscles- by taking classes, as well as working with Annette for nutrition. Eager to share her barre fitness experience with others, Karin became a certified personal trainer and completed her barre training at Vitality Fitness.

Carolyn Brush.jpg

Carolyn Brush

Carolyn has been practicing yoga for 10 years.  Her passion for teaching children inspired her to get her children’s yoga certification.  Carolyn completed her training in 2012 at Karma Kids Yoga in New York City.  She incorporated yoga into her physical education curriculum in the River Edge School District where she has taught for the past 25 years and it was an instant hit with her students. Carolyn believes that yoga at an early age encourages self-esteem and body awareness.  Yoga brings that marvelous inner light that all children have to the surface.  Carolyn uses poses, music, story, and games to create magical adventures where the children learn to become OMazing Little Yogis. When off the mat, Carolyn can be found running races in Central Park, exploring new restaurants in New York City, hiking, and doing volunteer work.
